We’ve heard it a lot of different ways. Donald Miller said it in Blue Like Jazz.  Jen Hatmaker says it in this podcast. When people can tell you don’t like them, they don’t care what you think. In fact, they are more likely to disregard what you think, even if you are right. Being right is not the point. Loving one another is the point. There were so many things I loved about the Bruce Jenner interview, painful though it was to watch. I loved how sincere Bruce was, I loved the dignified way ABC told the story, I loved how his kids were a driving factor in his thinking and decision making, I loved that this stud athlete is shattering gender roles and ideals as he unveils his own struggles, I Ioved the education for the masses on gender identity verse sexual orientation, I loved how he opened up about his struggle beginning at a young age, I loved that he did this interview …

This past week as I shared my story of transferring to Lewisville High School from Marcus High School, something struck a chord and people I didn’t know were saying one of my favorite things to hear: “Me too.” The tiny little phrase that helps us remember we aren’t alone in this crazy life. “Me too.
